Cape Town draws a lot of tourism for foreign visitors of South Africa. Its beautiful and unique geographical features as well as its many large shopping malls provide a lot to offer to tourists.
The famous and historical Cape of Good Hope is located about an hour south of Cape Town. Cape Point or the Cape of Good Hope is a rocky headland on the very tip of the continent of Africa. There is a funicular that takes tourists about half way up the huge rock and then you can climb the rest of the way to the top near the lighthouse. Two Oceans Restaurant, a world famous seafood restaurant, is located just below the tip of Cape Point where you board the funicular. Known for its authentic fresh seafood cuisine and unbeatably amazing view, Two Oceans Restaurant is rated among the top 10 places to eat while in Cape Town.
Near the downtown area of Cape Town, is the V&A Waterfront. This area of the city attracts not only tourists but also locals. The waterfront incledes a mall with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and entertainment surrounding it. There is also a local artisian market with local artwork and food like fresh fruit, vegetables, & smoothies. The Cape Wheel, a ferris wheel over 130 feet tall, sits in the middle of the waterfront area and provides a breathtaking view of the entire city and its coastal surroundings.
The waterfront sits on the bay where tourists can catch a ferry to the historical Robben Island for the day. The ferry ride is just just a short 15 minutes. Upon arriving to the island, tourists are met by their tour guide, a former prisoner on Robben Island. The tour guide gives their own personal experiences of their life on the island while walking the tourists through the prison grounds.
